Mariachi las Adelitas UK, Europe's only All Female Mariachi Band

The ‘Adelitas’ were Mexican women who took to arms in the Mexican revolution to rebel against the many injustices of the time. The name comes from one such woman, for whom a famous revolutionary ‘corrido’ was written, but has now come to symbolise all of these fearless warrior women.

In July 2018, they played at the Women’s Mariachi Festival in L.A, California where they shared the stage with twice Grammy award-winning Mariachi Divas, received a standing ovation, and were interviewed and played live on both Univision and Telemundo TV channels, as well as featured in countless publications such as El Diario New York, WAPA the Spanish beauty magazine, EFE, ADN40 Mexico, El Plural.com, El Milenio- Mexico, El Confidencial- Spain, La Opinion- Los Angeles.

They were invited to participate in the Mariachi Women’s Festival again in October 2020, in virtual form, where they were featured between livestreams from Mariachi Reynas de Los Angeles and Mariachi Divas.

In September 2020 they participated in Mexico’s largest Mariachi festival, the Festival internacional del Mariachi y la Charreria. The festival was again put together remotely due to the pandemic.

Other past clients/ venues include the Mexican & U.S Embassies in London, the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert museum, Disney, the British Library, and the iconic Camden Roundhouse.

They serenaded Salma Hayek at her private birthday celebration in London in September 2019 and have also played for the opening of the Arcade Fire concerts in London’s Earls Court.

Each member is a fantastic instrumentalist, and there are no less than three lead vocalists, all with the vocal power and clarity expected from any serious mariachi band.

The Mariachi classics are included in their repertoire, original compositions, plus beautiful arrangements of well-known songs including classics in English arranged in an authentic mariachi style, which makes the band unique and versatile.

Their first release is their own arrangement of the traditional Mariachi ‘Son’, ‘El Toro Relajo’ which was released on all platforms on 24th October 2020 and has had airplay in countries as diverse as the Brazil, Switzerland, Namibia, Ireland, Palestine, and the UK including the BBC’s DJ Ritu for her ‘A World in London’ show.
