Born in Monterrey, Mexico, FreeGuerrero immigrated to the US when he was just 4 years old. When he arrived his mother wanted him to have the best chance at integrating so she didn’t allow him to be put in bilingual classes. "This move resulted in me having a funny accent that makes me feel insecure except for when I’m making music," he says. "I know other immigrants and first generation individuals have had a similar experience and I want to inspire them to take on that insecurity by using their accents to create their own unique sound."
His single "Fantasma" is about being haunted by the thoughts of someone you loved. It was inspired by a personal experience he says would have destroyed him had he not had music as an outlet.
"I hope others that hear this know that you have to go into the painful emotions and deal with them if you want to make it out alive."
