Today, genre-defying Dominican-Irish artist jame minogue redefines global pop with the release of his irresistible single “Hate Being In Love.” The up-beat, heavily Latin-infused track sees the artist seamlessly melding different sounds from cultures across the world, driven by sun-kissed melodies, irresistible salsa piano licks, live-recorded rhythmic guitar and Latin percussion, ending with live-conga instrumentation that makes listeners feel like they’ve just stepped foot into the hottest salsa bar in town. The shimmering production by Omar Tavarez (Pitbull), Mark Pelli (MAGIC!) and jame himself supports the clever songwriting as his punchy, indie pop vocals float between English and Spanish, showcasing a sound uniquely his own.

Throughout the offering, minogue’s lyricism details the games that oftentimes accompany newfound love with lyrics like “Ok now think about the time we ditched a class and went to bed / Me encerraste en el closet cuando ya vino tu ex [translates to ‘You locked me in the closet when your ex came’].”

The single is accompanied by an official music video shot in LA by Camila Noriega, which sees a playful jame sitting alone at a picnic blanket, waiting for his lover to arrive. The video portrays the juxtaposing feelings of the giddiness that comes with the development of a new love interest as well as the uncertainties of wondering where they stand.

“Hate Being In Love” is the lead single from jame minogue’s sophomore EP Príncipe Azul (Prince Charming). It follows a string of fan-favorite tracks including “Hear Me Out” with Latin pop artist KORDELYA (which landed a sync placement on Netflix’s reboot of the beloved Mexican telenovela Rebelde) as well as funk-laden “Santiago.” He has received global support from media tastemakers, landing placements on top editorial playlists in both the U.S. (Spotify’s New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Anti Pop, Radar US Latin) and Latin America (New Music Friday Latin, Fresh Finds Latin, Latin Pop Rising, Mixto).

Meet jame minogue: Billboard featured Dominican-Irish artist jame minogue grew up in a tiny New Jersey town and made his way to Los Angeles after dropping out of Berklee to pursue music full time. His unique sound which blends indie, synth-pop, funk, and r&b has earned him comparisons to Omar Apollo and Kali Uchis. He has worked alongside Gustavo Farias (Juan Gabriel’s Producer) and his son Andres Farias along with Mark Pelli from MAGIC!. jame hopes that with his honest and vulnerable music, he can help at least one person not feel so alone.
